Strategic Marketing Communications Firm TeamAsia Announces Expansion

A Philippines-based strategic marketing communications firm with corporate branding, event management, and public relations divisions announced that it is expanding capacity to meet demand for its services. U.S. demand for its corporate branding services was a principal factor in the decision.

Philippines-based strategic marketing communications firm TeamAsia announced today that it is expanding its Northgate Cyberzone offices in Manila to meet demand for its corporate branding, event management, and public relations services.

“Last year we expanded our operation by about 50 percent,” said Michael Alan Hamlin, managing director. “We're again expanding this year, this time by about a third as a result of increased opportunity, primarily from U.S. clients, for our services.”

The firm's corporate branding services include strategic corporate brand and marketing consulting, direct communications including website development and marketing collateral, and copywriting, according to Hamlin. Event management services involve conceptualizing and producing events for corporate clients and management seminars offered to the public. Public relations services include editorial, media relations, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“Over the past year we have seen a substantial increase in interest in our corporate branding services from the U.S. market,” Hamlin said. “This has enabled us to develop specialized competencies in the areas of interactive websites and e-newsletters, blogs, RSS, Podcasts, and other related services such as online surveys.” Hamlin decided earlier this year that it would be necessary undertake further expansion in order to leverage these opportunities. “Of course, we also do a lot of traditional work for both corporations and publishers,” he said.

TeamAsia's event division has also had a busy year, according to Hamlin. It organized the Cebu ICT 2005 conference in June and the League of Corporate Foundations annual conference in July. It is organizing major international medical and financial conferences involving thousands of delegates that will take place early next year.

“We've also seen our specialized business training programs — such as Presentation Skills, Business Writing, and Dealing with People seminars — grow nicely. So nicely that we have increased the frequency of these offerings,” Hamlin said.

Hamlin said the firm's public relations division has also grown in scope, encompassing a wide range of industries, from manufacturing to entertainment to IT.

“No firm can afford to be without a meaningful PR program as part of its overall communications effort. This realization provides much opportunity for professionally delivered public relations services. So we see this division continuing to expand at a fairly exciting rate,” Hamlin said.

TeamAsia was founded in 1992 by Monette Iturralde-Hamlin, who is president of the firm. Hamlin joined her in 1994. The firm has grown from a handful of people to approximately 40 professionals and support staff since then, according to Iturralde-Hamlin. Iturralde-Hamlin delivers some of the firm's most sought-after seminars, and oversees the event management division, the company's largest. Hamlin focuses on corporate branding and public relations.

Hamlin is also the author of five books. The latest, "High Visibility: The Making & Marketing of Professionals into Brands," will appear in bookstores in January 2006. It is written with Philip Kotler, Irving Rein, and Martin Stoller.
