Peace is Coming to Washington, D.C.: The Celebrate Peace Tour Arrives September 17
Celebrate Peace tour includes free concert and workshops in Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) August 27, 2005 -- The Celebrate Peace tour is rolling into town on September 17 with a message of hope - celebrating peace that exists right now and offering tools for cultivating peace in our lives, in our communities, and in the world. The weekend is part of a national series of free peace-related workshops and concerts sponsored by Peace Cereal with other partners, including the DC-based non-profit organization, PEACE X PEACE.
Celebrating Peace when the world is at war may seem contradictory, but it is precisely the time when we need to recognize it, according to Celebrate Peace program director Jeff Klein: "We celebrate peace because peace exists all around us, and by celebrating it, we acknowledge its existence and bring it into focus."
The Celebrate Peace events include:
* Connecting Women for Peace, presented by PEACE X PEACE and sponsored by Breathe magazine
* Becoming a Peacebuilder, presented by The Peace Company and Louise Diamond, author of the Celebrate Peace book, and sponsored by UTNE magazine
* Snatam Kaur & The Celebrate Peace Band in concert Celebrating the Sound & Spirit of Peace, presented by Spirit Voyage Music
The Celebrate Peace workshops and concert on September 17th take place at All Souls Church - 1500 Harvard Street NW, Washington, DC. Events are free but registration is required as seating is limited. To register for events go to-- www.celebratepeace.com or call 888.735-4800 x 703
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
WHEN: Saturday, September 17
WHERE: All Souls Church
Connecting Women for Peace - 10:00am -- 12:30pm
PEACE X PEACE brings the power of women's groups to life through a participatory experience that guides women into deep listening, consensus, and cross-cultural engagement, as a dynamic and intimate feminine foundation for global peace. Professionally facilitated, participants will step into the ancient tradition of meeting in circle, creating a sacred space and joining with other women's groups from around
the world through the PEACE X PEACE Global Network.
Becoming a Peacebuilder - 2:00pm - 4:30pm
The Peace Company presents a workshop to learn how to let 'the peacebuilder within' be an active presence in the world. This highly interactive workshop will introduce you to the three basic principles of peacebuilding. First, Know Where You Are -- find the living spirit of peace within yourself, in your values and vision for peace and your place of true inner peace. Second, Meet the Other -- soften the hardened heart and connect deeply with those where there is hurt, fear, difference, conflict, or anger. Third, See What You Can Do Together -- move that connection into creative action that grows peace in concrete ways. You will come away with tools that you can use to make a difference -- in your life, your family, your community, and this one world we all call home.
Snatam Kaur and the Celebrate Peace Band Concert - 7:00pm -- 9:00pm
A Musical Celebration of the Spirit of Peace
Our ability to come together in song, and to connect with inner peace through music and
mantra is testimony to the presence and power of peace. The concert features a delightful segment with local children leading the audience in song, and a multi-faith invocation with representatives from various local congregations. This musical celebration of the spirit of peace reminds us that peace is always available to us,
and brings us together to celebrate peace.
