Montclair, NJ (PRWEB) August 27, 2005 -- Baby Boom and artspace129 are collaborating to mount an exhibit entitled FASHIONABLE FABLES" in the display windows of Baby Boom located on the corner of Valley Rd. and Bellevue Ave. in Upper Montclair. The exhibit will run through the month of September, with a reception for the artist on Saturday September 10, 2005 from 12-3pm.
artspace129 is a new local gallery housed in law offices of the McDongough Building on Valley Rd. This gallery specializes in partnering with local businesses to introduce fine art in a fresh and unexpected context. The guiding principle of artspace129 is to form a symbiotic relationship with its host by displaying established and emerging artists work in professional offices and commercial spaces, thus providing an opportunity for art lovers and collectors to view art in familiar surroundings at convenient times in the course of their daily activities. The aim is to bring Art to Main St.
Choosing store windows to display art presented a challenge. Sajs works had to be integrated into the overall theme of childrens clothing, yet not be treated as mere background. The task of mounting the show was given to Lori Wilson and Lisa Pappagallo, the display specialists at Baby Boom. They fashioned a theater set that dramatizes the presentation of childrens fall ensembles in a world of imagination and fable. The window displays will feature familiar characters from fairy-tales and childrens stories: Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, as well as Lions Tigers and Bears.
Sajs sculptures are colorful, playful and engaging. Most are accompanied by legends defining their character. Though generally humorous, they often offer a whimsical view of human foibles. An exhibit of Sajs work last winter at the Montclair Public Library generated more viewer response than any other show at the library to date, according to the library director,.Cheryl McCoy.
Currently, George T. Sajs exhibits include a solo show at the McGraw Gallery at the Newark Academy, entitled FACE TO FACE", featuring over 60 sculptures produced in the last 3 years. His works are also included in LOCAL COLOR", a survey of New Jersey art, at the artspace129 primary location at 129 Valley Rd in Montclair.
