Mobile Poll: 2 of 5 Respond "Who is Cindy Sheehan?"

More than 40% of U.S. respondents donÂ?t know who Cindy Sheehan is according to a new mobile text-messaging poll conducted by CLX.

Despite intensive media coverage of Gold Star mother Cindy Sheehan’s vigil near President Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas, a new mobile text-messaging poll by CLX showed that many people do not even know who Cindy Sheehan is. The lack of awareness was especially prevalent among the poll’s younger respondents. A full 52% of 15- to 24- year olds didn’t know of Cindy Sheehan. The 45- 55-year-old group was the most knowledgeable, yet over 20% of this older group also didn’t know of Sheehan.

CLX conducted the text-message-based poll using its proprietary PollCast(TM) application to garner responses from 9,228 text-messaging users through their cell phones. The poll asked the mobile phone users whether they believed that President Bush should meet with Cindy Sheehan. Of the respondents that knew who Sheehan was, the majority held the opinion that Bush should meet with the woman. Over 55% of the respondents who knew of Sheehan said the President should meet with her. 32% of these respondents said Bush shouldn’t meet with her and the rest were divided on the issue.

"This poll shows how important it is to capture the youth response in polling initiatives.
