Harper, Kansas (PRWEB) September 5, 2005 -- The small rural community of Harper, Kansas, will step back in time on Saturday, October 1, when the Sixth Annual Historic Re-enactment of Harper's 1890s Fat Ladies Society will be held.
True to the original annual events of the 1890s, ladies attending must weigh 150 pounds or more (except no one will be weighed). A calorie ladden potluck dish to share is required for attendance. Needless-to-say, there will be plenty of delectable desserts. The ladies are encouraged to bring their finest table service to feature at their place setting under the canopy.
Historic costumes of the era will add to the ambience. An elegant Sidewalk Suanter begins at 11:00 a.m., so the costumes may be admired. Lunch will begin at high noon. After lunch a Silent Auction of original art and quality prints will commence. Storytelling (real and imaginative) and music by guests of times gone will complete the entertainment. Much spontaneity will assure that "a jolly good time will be had by all."
Advance tickets are required. For information email. Proceeds benefit The Balmer Fund, Inc.,a charitable organzaiton dedicted to the preservation of the history, art & culture of the prairies for future generations. It was founded in 1994.
