AirSplat.com Launches Entry Level Electric Airsoft Gun Line

New product line features firearm replicas that are indistinguishable in size, weight and appearance from their real counterparts.

El Monte, CA (PRWEB) September 13, 2005 -- AirSplat.com, one of the largest Airsoft gun retailers in the nation, announces the availability of the Entry Level Electric Airsoft Gun Line. These guns are indistinguishable in size, weight, and appearances to firearm counterparts Such non-lethal replicas include shotguns such as the Glock 19 and Remington 870, machine guns like the M60, and sniping rifles such as the PSG-1, M4A1, Berretta 93R. web_c180opt.JPG

Originating in Japan in the early 1980s where it is illegal to own firearms, the sport of Airsoft was not recognized in North America and Europe until somewhere in the mid '90s. The Japanese had a great interest in firearms and created spring powered replicas. During this time, the sport became quite popular in neighboring countries such as Hong Kong, Korea, the Philippines, and Taiwan.

The Airsoft gun is a close relative of the BB gun, and uses a much larger plastic pellet that is 6mm in circumference than the typical BB. The sport provides a minimal risk of serious injury during role playing or even training activities, with the advantage of handling a life-like, non-lethal replica of a firearm. These replica firearms are so realistic that they have become popular in the movie industry as set props, appearing in movies like "The Terminator" and "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider."

AirSplat.com provides several guns to choose from. For beginners starting out, spring-powered or spring-cocking guns are the best choice, due to their easy, well-built cock and fire handling at a reasonable price. Gas blowback guns (GBBs) allow for a more realistic semi-automatic firing and quick reloading using magazine-stored gas, also known as green gas, storage system. This item is perfect for simulations. Finally, the automatic electric guns (AEGs) use an on board battery that gives the realistic automatic features of the rate of fire (ROF) of 600-900 rounds per minute (RPM). This model is most popular amongst Airsoft pros.

Because of laws and costs, the sport of Airsoft provides the opportunity for safe training or simulations for those who enjoy role playing. It is non lethal and causes minimal harm. There are various forums and organizations, such as airsoftcore.com, to join for updates on recent news or to participate in friendly competitions, otherwise known as "skirmishing" their opponents.
