donQuijote.org Reaches 70,000+ Pages

One of the Webs most extensive Spanish language learning websites has reached a milestone of 70,000 pages.

Salamanca, Spain (PRWEB) September 2, 2005 -- don Quijote, a Spanish company specializing in Spanish language courses in Spain and Latin America, has announced that the don Quijote website (www.donquijote.org) has reached over 70,000 pages of content on all things Spanish! With 30,000 visitors each day, don Quijote.org offers convenient and effective ways for students, teachers and globetrotters to learn Spanish and gather cultural and travel information about Spain and Latin America.

When the website was launched in 1996, it was basic and available only in English. The website was later translated to 5 languages and grew to 1000 pages. In 2000, a new design was launched along with new content such as travel guides, a Spanish word of the day and visitor forums. The don Quijote internet team continues to add new pages, updating the site with interesting, fun, and informative content appealing to surfers ranging from Spanish students to language teachers and world travelers

Learning Spanish is the primary draw for the site, with the don Quijote Members zone providing free weekly e-mail lessons to more than 60,000 students learning from home. Other popular pages include Spanish song lyrics and recipes, and a Spanish literature section offering almost 50 downloadable novels, plays and poems in Spanish.

One of the newest additions, the don Quijote virtual museum, was created by founder and general director René de Jong, an avid Quixote collector. The museum, developed in celebration of the 400th anniversary of Cervantess 'Don Quixote de la Mancha, invites fans to contribute photos of their own Quixote-inspired memorabilia. After just seven months, the museum contains more than 600 images, statues, business and place names, works of art and ordinary items inspired by the idealistic knight-errant, Don Quixote.

When asked about the massive growth of the site, Rene de Jong commented "We are excited about reaching the 70,000 page milestone on our website. We have been on-line almost a decade now and look forward to sharing our love for Spanish culture and language for many years to come!"

For 18 years, don Quijote, the market leader in in-country Spanish language courses, has been exclusively dedicated to the teaching of Spanish to foreigners. Each year the company welcomes as many as 12,000 students from 60 countries to its schools in Salamanca, Madrid, Barcelona, Tenerife, Seville, Granada and Valencia in Spain, and Guanajuato, Mexico. The companys website, www.donquijote.org, a Spanish language portal offering more than 70,000 pages of Spanish language resources, receives more than 30,000 visits daily.
