Reggie Jackson struck out 2,597 times and still made the Hall of Fame. Colonel Sanders was broke at age 65; he hit the road with his recipe and three years later started the still-thriving Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise.
How did they push through failure and attain success?
"Successful people are able to see opportunity even in adversity," says John Paul Carinci, author of "The Power of Being Different: A Success Formula" (Author House, http://www.JohnPaulBooks.com). "They believe that success is inevitable and they are intensely driven."
The president of a thriving insurance agency, Carinci knows what it takes to break down barriers and attain major goals. He is the author of five books, numerous articles, short stories, and poems. In addition he is the coauthor of two screenplays and serves as CEO of Better Off Dead Productions Inc., a movie production company.
"Dissatisfaction and setbacks can be turned into something good through intense positive dissatisfaction, because the feeling motivates you to do better," says Carinci. "You want to make tomorrowÂs work better than what you did today."
Here Carinci shares five ways you can get out of a rut and accomplish great things:
1. Determine exactly what you want to do.
2. Write it down in detail.
3. Document why you want to accomplish this goal.
4. Note how long it will take and note how you will invest yourself daily and weekly to achieve this goal.
5. Create a statement promising yourself that under no circumstances will you allow anyone to alter your pursuit of the desired goal.
Resolve to never accept a setback as permanent. Instead, let it inspire you to set even higher goals and go the extra mile to achieve them!
