When Kids meet Reservoir Dogs
BUZZMEDIA NETWORK options classical gangland screenplay by maverick Brit writer at large in the USA.
(PRWEB) September 4, 2005 -- BUZZMEDIA NETWORK this week signed an option agreement on a New York gangland screenplay written by award-winning Hollywood-based British screenwriter Max Myers. The writer of the screenplay, which is provisionally titled 'Thugs, is also a Professor of Screenwriting at Columbia College, Los Angeles.
The film is to be directed by Netherlands-based director Heinrich Dahms who previously wrote and directed, among other things, the 1993 Miramax thriller, My Daughters Keeper.
The script, which Dahms describes as something of a 'Kids meets 'Reservoir Dogs" style gangster film, is a gritty look at a fateful day in the lives of a tightly knit family of misguided teen gangstas in New York City. Dahms immediately fell in love" with the inevitable structure and well-defined, sometimes deeply likeable characters portrayed in this tight gangland drama.
The inexorable vortex of violence is triggered when, under camouflage of Manhattans Halloween Night Parade, a teen gang robs a Hasidic diamond store of 3 million dollars in diamonds. The kids become fair game not only to a ruthless chapter of the Russian mafia, but also to a band of corrupt New York detectives blindly following the orders of a politically compromised chief of police. The result is a violent drama that closely resembles the glove-tight, terrifying inexorability of a classical Greek tragedy.
Start of production of the film, which is entirely set in New York City, is scheduled for early 2007.
