Boston, MA (PRWEB) September 4, 2005
The Boston Adventure Travelers Society (BostonATS.org) formally announced the club's formation on August 30, 2005.
Established to promote responsible adventure travel, the society's members share their experiences as well as enjoy frequent expert guest speakers--from Denali summiteers to Safari leaders.
Adventure travel, popularly defined by Webster as "Â a trip to a natural environment or remote location with the specific purpose of active physical participation and exploration of a new experience," has surged in recent years.
Membership coordinator Tom Rapko thought the idea of simply bringing these adventurers together to share their experiences just made sense. "Boston adventure travelers dive, climb, surf, ski, raft, bike, fly, and drive their way around the world--why shouldn't we share these experiences with like-minded friends, peers, and colleagues?"
To date, existing Boston ATS members have traveled to over 35 countries, logged more than a million air miles and enjoyed countless hours engaged in exciting adventures.
