Call to the Nation for All Americans!

It is time for us to thank your troops for defending our freedom, past and present, and for saving lives on our Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina.

Be at a series of events on September 17, 2005 from 11:00am - 1:00pm, in hundreds of cities nationwide!

It is past time to show our troops that, regardless of anyone's politics, we care for and support each and every military member from the past and present who have sacrificed so much in order to defend our freedom. This is especially poignant as we have many members still overseas with families who were displaced or worse by Hurricane Katrina. And, as we have watched in horror at the devastation left behind by Hurricane Katrina right here at home, there again were our troops and our Coast Guard putting their lives on the line to rescue thousands of Americans along our own Gulf Coast.

Fellow Americans, we need to join together in our communities - in our neighborhoods, our parks, out town centers. Gather alongside a highway or anywhere that you can show people you care and than you support our troops. Bring your families, your neighbors, call your mayor and your newspaper, your TV and radio stations, bring flags, bring signs to thank the troops, bring a picnic lunch. Most of all be there on Septemer 17, 2005 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

It is time for our troops overseas to be able to talk about how their families, friends and fellow Americans back home all got together to show their support and appreciation. It is time that we do something together to build up their spirits. Let's also thank our troops and Coast Guard for saving so many lives in and near New Orleans.

And when the day is done, leave a light on in the window to remember those heroes who won't be returning home.
