Dallas-based singer/songwriter Jay Johnson has released his 1990 recording of Randy Newman's "Louisiana 1927" available as a free download on his site. The download is accompanied by a request to give a donation to aid the Hurricane victims.

The song was added to the site last Wednesday hoping to inspire those that listened to donate. They were soon overwhelmed with e-mails of thanks and requests to put the recording out to radio as a single, with the hope that the inspiration will continue to grow. Johnson's wish is for people to find a little peace during this time anyway they can, and music always seems to be a universal companion. He also pays tribute and thanks to Randy Newman of whom he has always been a huge fan. The download will remain free and may also be found at RadioSubmit.com.

Johnson is a multi-award winning artist from Dallas who's music career holds many accolades. Among his latest accomplishments, he was voted Male Vocalist of the Year at the 2005 Texas Music Awards.
