BitRock InstallBuilder 3.0 Announced

BitRock InstallBuilder now includes support for Mac OS X, as well as RPM integration. InstallBuilder simplifies the installation process, helping developers improve the packaging, distribution and deployment of their products.

(PRWEB) September 8, 2005 -- Bitrock Incorporated announced today the release of BitRock InstallBuilder 3.0. The development tool turns the application packaging, distribution and deployment process of multiplatform applications into a fast, easy and cost effective task for independent software vendors and custom application developers. The new version includes native support for Mac OSX, as well as Linux, Linux PPC, Windows, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris and Free BSD. InstallBuilder 3.0 also includes new features such as support for integration with the RPM package management system and the ability to select which components to install during the installation process.

BitRock InstallBuilder includes all of the robust functionality of other available solutions and more, at a fraction of the price. Developers can use GUI, human-friendly XML, or command line interfaces to quickly develop native, self-contained installers that do not require bundling a Java® runtime or a self-extraction step. Convenient built-in actions automate much of the building process, including auto-detecting a Java(tm) Runtime, changing file permissions and ownership, substituting text in a file, adding environment variables, adding directories to the path, creating symbolic links, changing the Windows registry, and launching external scripts. InstallBuilder also includes extensive customization capabilities and support for 16 languages.

"We are highly pleased with Bitrock InstallBuilder. The handling is intuitive and easy, including the more advanced features like the installing of additional project libraries in specific directories," said Joachim Buermann of IF Tools, "The best part: No need for several tools for different platforms. The Multiplatform CDROM Build makes it very simple to create all needed installation files for different platforms in one step."
