Hosted by the very funny Gina Yashere the best directory enquiries services in the world have been rightly rewarded. This years award entrants were treated to a champagne reception and mouth watering five course meal at Manchester's first five star hotel.

This year's prestigious 118 awards were held at The Lowry Hotel Manchester City Centre. "This award was open to both Directory Services and suppliers of additional services to the industry, be that; data, technology, people, or consultancy. What was important was that it demonstrated innovation that encouraged the industry to look beyond the simplicities of providing numbers. This was a very difficult category to judge as each of the nominees show great innovation in they're own right," commented Geoff Williamson of Eircom, sponsor and presenter of this year's Innovation Award.

The awards judging panel is made up of experts in the market place and included representatives from The Pierz Group, Thomson Directories, Performance House, Lindley Consulting, Scansoft, Performix Technologies, Telecommunications Users Association, Volt Delta and 118tracker.com.

The winner of this year's Innovation Award offers a service that directly targets the needs of the directories customer. The information they provide is relevant and valuable and is a service that builds brand loyalty as well as additional revenue streams for the service provider.
