gEco Holdings, LLC (gEco), a rising company in the field of environmental technology commercialization, today announced that it has been named one of the Top 100 Private Companies of Asia during the three-day Red Herring 100 Asia Conference being held in Shanghai, China.

In cooperation with its world-class partners, gEco’s international commercialization endeavors include a portable micro-dialysis device for home use, deep-seawater resources for human consumption and air-conditioning, and geothermal-exchange heat pump systems.

The award recognizes the top 100 private companies driving forward-looking technologies in Asia. Red Herring’s editorial staff rigorously evaluated more than 500 private companies through a careful analysis of financial data and subjective criteria, including quality of management, execution of strategy, and dedication to research and development.

"We are especially proud to show that technologies benefiting the environment can make for a highly sustainable business model," said Tei Gordon, president and CEO of gEco. "The environment and business do not have to be mutually exclusive. We commercialize innovative technologies for consumer products in an eco-friendly manner, a win-win proposition for all stakeholders."

gEco works with cutting-edge technology companies and universities to source environmentally friendly technologies in the early stages of their development. At present, the company is focusing on the cross-border transfer of micro-technologies and nanotechnologies that offer consumer benefits such as quieter, more efficient operation and significantly reduced running costs, as well as environmental friendliness.

“Getting selected for the Red Herring Asia 100 list is quite an achievement,” said Red Herring editor-in-chief Joel Dreyfuss. “We had many strong entries, a reflection of the depth of entrepreneurship that has taken hold in Asia.”

Red Herring has earned a reputation for identifying innovative new companies and entrepreneurs. The magazine spotted, for example, Google and eBay while still in their infancies as companies with the potential to change the way people live and work.
