What If George Bush Were a Black Man?
George meets Pookie, his alter ego. This satirical book is a shocking exploration of the presidency, society, and vast American hypocrisy.
(PRWEB) September 7, 2005 -- A New York professor is causing significant controversy with his newest book, "What if George Bush Were a Black Man?" (ISBN: 0-9742632-2-2).
"If George Bush were a black man, we probably would not respect him," says Syracuse Universitys first black finance professor, Dr. Boyce Watkins.
Dr. Watkins 207 page satirical masterpiece takes an unflinching look into President George Bushs background, touching on: substance abuse, insider trading allegations with Harken Energy, wedding gifts from Laura Bushs family, the Vietnam war and poor grammar.
The book is quick to question whether the country would have been as forgiving if George Bush had been born black in South Central Los Angeles.
"Would he be a rich kid with an endowment, or would we just call him a welfare recipient?" asks Watkins, who is the first black finance professor at Syracuse University and the founder of the Black Financial Economists Association.
Dr. Watkins asserts Bushs life would be much different if his skin was black or his parents were impoverished. Statistics from many government agencies back up Watkins theory that the current president is the perfect example of the socio-economic problems America faces today.
"Only 56 % of African American students graduate high school with a traditional diploma. Theyre incarcerated for drug charges at more than 8 times the rate of whites, and 25% of the causalities in Vietnam were black," says Dr. Watkins, who uses these numbers to draw the conclusion that a black version of the President would have served time for drug charges and been forced to show up and fight in Vietnam.
"Plus, his momma probably would have smacked him every time he used the word mis-underestimated in public."
Watkins is the author of four books: What if George Bush Were a Black Man, Quick and Dirty Secrets of College Success, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About College, and The Parental 411 -- What Every Parent Should Know About Their Child in College.
Dr. Watkins is an internationally recognized speaker and he has entertained crowds with his message at Carnegie Mellon University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Ohio State University, and several other state universities. In addition, hes spoken to thousands of minority students about the importance of attending college. He was recently interviewed in USA Today and Forbes Magazine. He also appeared on Hannity & Colmes recently.
Dr. Watkins is a member of several professional organizations, including: the National Economic Association, American Statistical Association, American Finance Association, and the Society of Financial Studies.
