Beermatting is an environment where like-minded ideas people get together and discus ideas over a pint or two. Or simply: the art of brainstorming ideas over a few beers.

Beermatting is a phrase coined by a group of Edinburgh drinkers after scribbling down ideas on beermats when in the pub.

Launched in April of this year, Beermatting aims to provide an environment that encourages, supports and stimulates creative and innovative thinking. The kinds of people who have come along to previous events have included: dreamers, entrepreneurs, artists, journalists, musicians, inventors and scientists. The mix is eclectic, creating an invigorating atmosphere where people brainstorm, network, make friends and generally have a good time.

Beermatting was started by Duncan Weddell, a web designer from Edinburgh. Duncan started Beermatting so he could meet up with similar ideas people in the Edinburgh area. In addition, he wanted to try and provide an environment in Edinburgh, where innovation, creativity and clever thinking were encouraged.

So far so good - Beermatting has attracted a wide range of people, who have all enjoyed meeting people high on life. Beermatting has also been partly responsible for a number of Beermatters securing new jobs, starting new businesses, writing songs and the making of good friends.
