Vera Lucia has been working with various arts and crafts media almost all of her life, painting all kinds of subjects, but recently she has been concentrating on fantasy art.
The Brazilian artist says:
"After painting landscapes, seascapes and cats, I decided my real passion was fantasy art. It is not even a form of art in Brazil. Now I paint only what my heart claims: mermaids, faeries, the Egyptian goddess, and cats. Somestimes all of them together."
Vera Lucia lives in Aranangua, a small seaside town in Brazil, with her husband of 30 years, in a house she and her husband built. They share this house with three spoiled cats: Camille and Aleksander Dmitri, who are Siamese, and Gabrielle, a black and white beauty.
Vera Lucia is now experimenting with themes from Greco-Roman mythology. She believes her hands, and what she creates with them, are capable of making the world a better and more colorful place to live.
