3DVU and Infoterra Signed a Memorandum of Understanding

3D data now in your hands.

(PRWEB) September 15, 2005 -- 3DVU Ltd. of Raanana, Israel a leading developer of 3D wireless image streaming technologies and Infoterra Ltd. of Farnborough, one of the UK's leading geospatial services companies, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance Infoterra's existing Geospatial Data Hosting Facility (GHF). The GHF is Infoterra's commercially operated service that offers off-site geospatial data management, processing and online web access via fixed line communications. Based on a Hitachi SAN storage subsystem, high performance near line tape robots and 34 Mbits of bandwidth, the GHF currently supports 14TB of online data access.

Infoterra's work with 3DVU began as part of a joint development via Britech (www.britech.org) and will complement the GHF by including the ability to stream 3D geospatial data any to wireless device. This is being developed to augment several ongoing projects Infoterra has won with the European Commission. One of these is ASTRO+, a space-based earth observation project for pan-European homeland security, which delivers interactive 3D models to security forces in remote locations for planning and situational awareness scenarios. The same technology also augments Infoterra's EC Respond contract (www.respond.eu.com), which delivers disaster relief geospatial products via Reuters and AlertNet for humanitarian aid situations.

3DVUs technology is powering Infoterras demonstration at the Defence System & Equipment International Conference and Exhibition (http://www.dsei.co.uk/) September 13 -- 16 in London. The DSEi is the largest showcase for new and future defence technology and it is the largest exhibition for the world's defence companies to display their land, sea and air capabilities at a single exhibition. With air and land platforms inside the exhibition halls, DSEi provides the only trade show opportunity to berth so many warships immediately alongside the exhibition hall.

3DVU Ltd. is a leader in 3D visualization technology with premier international customers. Its groundbreaking technology manipulates real images (satellite/aerial) over limited bandwidth communications to augment human interaction with the environment. 3DVU enables realistic 3D views and maneuverability over images with data-link capabilities for geographic information. Applications are compatible with any digital device, including those of limited processing power and memory, such as PCs, PDAs, in-car navigation systems and mobile handsets. 3DVU's technology has been empowering Kenwoods car navigation system for the past four years in Japan and soon GM-Daewoo and Ssangyong in Korea. The company was recently selected among Red Herring's list of most promising European companies -- the Red Herring 100." More information about 3DVU can be found at www.3DVU.com.
