Art from Ultrasound; 3-D and 4-D Ultrasound Offers Expectant Parents and Their Families an Artful and Lasting Experience

Local artist and entrepreneur Carl Kreft utilizes the latest ultrasound technology to give expectant parents a chance to see their baby in a comfortable, non-medical environment. He also creates memorable and meaningful art from their ultrasound experience.

(PRWEB) September 15, 2005 -- Recording the pregnancy and birth of a child seems like a fairly standard process nowadays. An expectant father or partner in the delivery room - with a hand-held camera recording the moment - is now the rule more than the exception.

A growing trend for pregnant women and their families is the recording of the pregnancy in more meaningful ways.

Wanting something more than merely tracking the pregnancy through the eye of an amateur lens, parents and families want photos or objects that capture the physical beauty of the pregnant mother, ala a pregnant Demi Moore in Vanity Fair in 1991.
Belly casts, for example, while having been around for quite some time, are growing in interest.

But the newest trend in pre-natal or birth" art is the use of three and four-dimensional ultrasound images.

While non-medical ultrasound services offer merely images from an ultrasound session, Carl Kreft, a sonagraphic artist and owner of The Inner Image Studio on La Cienega in West Hollywood, offers not only an experience for women and their families, but a unique blending of technology and creativity as well.

Krefts Inner Image Studio offers an ultrasound viewing on a high-definition plasma TV in a home-like theater setting designed specifically for this purpose. Depending on which kind of session they chose, expectant parents receive a copy of the ultrasound etched in crystal, copper and marble, in addition to a CD-ROM of the ultrasound.

The parents-to-be or their families can go one step further. Working with one of the resident artists at Inner Image Studio, they can have their prenatal experience captured and interpreted in one of several media, including sculpture, painting, or photography.
The studio offers expectant parents and their families a way of recording a pregnancy as a work of art and creating a family heirloom," said Kreft.

Kreft is a trained and certified ultrasound technician. Prior to the opening of the studio, he worked in a number of medical facilities performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures. He soon began conducting non-medical 2-D ultrasound viewings for expectant families in their homes. The opening of the studio and creation of the ultrasound theater gives families and their friends more flexibility and opportunity to view the baby in 3-D and 4-D.

The Inner Image Studio (www.theinnerimagestudio.com) is the inspiration of sonographic artist Carl Kreft. The studio reinvents the prenatal experience by blending innovative technologies and the creative spirit. Located at 529 N. La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angles, California, adjacent to the Beverly Center, Cedars Sinai Hospital, and the Pacific Design Center, the studio is home to the The Inner Image 4/D Prenatal Bonding Experience" and Artist Recreating the Prenatal Experience."
