InflammEnz to Make Second Appearance Before the American Society of Plastic Surgeons

The anti-inflammatory enzyme supplement InflammEnz will be represented during the ASPS Plastic Surgery 2005 meeting in Chicago.

(PRWEB) September 15, 2005 -- The results of a study published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, found the enzyme-based nutritional supplement InflammEnz (Enzymes, Inc., Parkville, Mo.) can accelerate healing by nearly 20 percent.

A University of Texas Southwest Medical Center team, in the Advanced Wound Healing and Tissue Regeneration Laboratory, conducted the randomized, crossover, placebo-controlled study. It consisted of 26 original volunteers, and was conducted in two 21 day phases

A small biopsy was taken on the forearm of each subject during both phases, and each was given a placebo or InflammEnz in one phase or the other. The study included a two-week "washout" period between each segment. A review of photos taken during each phase of the healing process revealed 77 percent of the remaining subjects had an accelerated wound-healing rate of 17 percent.

"That really is dramatic, and frankly, I didn't expect it," researcher Dr. Rod J. Rohrich, told WebMD. "If you can translate this kind of faster healing...you are talking about a cost savings in the recovery process and getting back to work sooner that could amount to billions [of dollars."

InflammEnz consists of high-potency proteolytic enzymes partnered with vitamins, minerals, and herbal extracts in a vegetarian capsule, and is available exclusively upon the recommendation of a healthcare practitioner.

Additional information will be available during the ASPS Plastic Surgery 2005 Meeting, September 24-28 in Chicago - booth # 1034.
