Riverside, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2005 -- Get sculptures out of the museums. Great work belongs to the people. Put it where the people are!" said A. Taylor Young, sculptor.

At HGi Financial Services, they feel the same way. And, on September 14 at 4:30pm, they will put their feelings into action.

HGis founder and president, Holly Gunnette, and her husband Rory, manager of information services, had wanted a sculpture in front of their office for years. As she says, Since we purchased this building in 1990, its been our dream to have a sculpture in front, where passers-by could see and enjoy it. This is a dream come true for us -- our way of bringing public art to Riverside."

The 16-foot tall burnished stainless steel work is titled Sky Dancers, and as artist Dan Schwartz says, I spent lots of time with Holly, discussing how she wanted to bring more beauty to the community, just getting a feel for what was in their minds and what their goals were. Then I did some sketches for them and we settled on the final design for Sky Dancers. One engineering criteria I set for myself was the piece had to withstand 90 mph winds. It does!"

Schwartz is a contractor by trade, though he began working with metal when he was in just the eighth grade. Steel sculpture has been his driving force for seven years, during which hes created numerous pieces for individuals and collectors. Aside from fine art work, however, Schwartz has created many custom items for architects. Ive done bridges over streams," he says, and all sorts of railings. Even a custom sink."

The Gunnettes met Schwartz at the Sawdust Festival in Laguna, where they first saw his work. We knew we had found our artist," she says. Whenever my husband, Rory and I travel to other cities we always love exploring the public art they offer. I just knew that was what we had to bring to Riverside."

Constantine Brancusi, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Alexander Calder, Henry Moore, Gaston Lacaise -- these great names in art are among the thousands of sculptors worldwide who have created outdoor works that can be readily seen, even touched. Now the name Dan Schwartz joins them.

Riverside County District 2 Supervisor John Tavaglione, a leader who is beautifying the area with landscaping and cleaning programs, will address the gathering at HGis official unveiling. HGi president, Holly Gunnette, and artist Dan Schwartz, will be on hand, as well. A gourmet reception will follow the official unveiling.

Its all on September 14 at 4:30, at HGi Financial Services, 9240 Limonite Avenue in Riverside. For details call (951) 681-2784.
