With a culture that advocates health and well- being, today's children are more in tune with their bodies than ever before. They want to know more about how their bodies work, and parents want to satisfy their desire for knowledge. With My Bodyworks (Crocodile Books/Interlink), children learn about their bodies while listening to music. My Bodyworks, a book with CD of twelve songs, teaches children about their bones, muscles, heart, and more. In a recent feature interview, NPR's WEEKEND EDITION host, Scott Simon said, "The Schoenberg's have created a multi-media project for children that makes learning (about the body) more fun." Parents and educators seem to agree, and the publisher of My Bodyworks has seen a big burst in sales since August when NPR and a number of other media outlets began picking up on it. Now, rushed to press for a second printing, they're looking to reach an even broader audience.

Music is a powerful way to communicate with children. Studies have proven that learning with music is very effective. Children show stronger retention rates when reading text set to music because they are receiving information through two senses - the eyes and ears. My Bodyworks, which entertains children while promoting healthy habits and body awareness, may make the game of Simon Says feel a whole lot different next time. "By listening to and by singing along with My Bodyworks, kids will be learning all kinds of facts about their bodies through the use of catchy rhythms and rhymes," says Jane Schoenberg, who has over twenty years of teaching experience and knows the positive results of integrating music and creative arts in the classroom.

Her husband, Steven Schoenberg has written music for Sesame Street, the Children's Television Workshop, and short films for ZOOM. Steven has also composed, recorded, and produced award-winning music for children's books and cassettes for Knopf, Random House, and Scholastic, Inc.

The fun and informative songs in My Bodyworks cover a variety of musical styles that all children and parents can relate to and promises to get the whole family rocking.
