Lorman Education Services Presents an "Employment Law From A To Z" Seminar on November 10, 2005

This "Employment Law From A To Z" seminar will cover the latest legal developments in labor and employment law.

(PRWEB) September 16, 2005 -- Employment law issues occupy a significant amount of management time. Many of these issues generate time-consuming and costly administrative complaints or lawsuits. In order to avoid the loss of management time, negative publicity, legal fees and costly verdicts, management and personnel professionals must be knowledgeable about the latest legal developments in labor and employment law. To be effective, management must be aware of strategies and preventative measures available to eliminate or minimize legal challenges against their companies or clients.

Agnes Fuentevilla Padilla is a partner with Butt Thornton & Baehr PC in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and the University of New Mexico School of Law. Ms. Fuentevilla Padillas legal practice focuses on advising and representing employers in all aspects of employment and civil rights-related matters, including litigation in the federal and state courts, and
administrative agency proceedings, as well as providing general advice and training in employee/employer relations to private and public employers.

Bruce Herr heads the Employment Law and Litigation Practice Group with the Office of Laboratory Counsel at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Mr. Herr was, for 23 years, in general private practice in Santa Fe practicing primarily in the areas of employment law, civil rights and general litigation. Mr. Herr has represented employers before the EEOC and the New Mexico HRD, and in state and federal court. He also regularly advised management on employment issues. Mr. Herr is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School. He is the former chair of the New Mexico Supreme Court Committee on Rules of Civil Procedure and serves on the Ethics Advisory Committee of the State Bar of New Mexico. Mr. Herr is a frequent speaker at seminars on employment law issues.

Cindy Lovato-Farmer is a staff attorney with the Employment Law and Litigation Practice Group in the Office of Laboratory Counsel at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Ms. Lovato-Farmer graduated with honors from the University of New Mexico School of Law and was a law clerk for United States District Court Judge Martha Vazquez. Prior to joining the Laboratory in August 2002, Ms. Lovato-Farmer was in private practice, and focused on employment and civil rights litigation. Ms. Lovato-Farmer has represented public and private employers and management in all aspects of employment litigation and human resource matters in state and federal court, and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New Mexico Human Rights Commission and the Department of Labor. Ms. Lovato-Farmer is an appointed member of the New Mexico Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, a member of the American Bar Associations Labor and Employment Law Sections Equal Employment Opportunity Committee, and chair of the Employment and Labor Law Section of the New Mexico Bar Association. Ms. Lovato-Farmer was a contributor to the EEO Committees Second Supplement to Employment Discrimination Law, Third Edition. Ms. Lovato-Farmer has conducted training and been a speaker at numerous seminars in the employment law arena.

Carlos G. Martinez is with the law firm of Butt Thornton & Baehr PC. He received his B.S. degree from the University of San Francisco and his J.D. degree from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law. Mr. Martinez is a member of various organizations relating to his practice. He is an instructor at the National Judicial College for the International Association of Accident Boards and Commissions (I.A.I.A.B.C.). Mr. Martinez is a frequent speaker at various seminar presentations and is the author of numerous publications, including New Mexico Workers Compensation Manual, Austin & Winfield Publications.

Theresa W. Parrish is a shareholder with the Albuquerque law firm of Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin & Robb, P.A., and has practiced law since 1985. In her employment law and litigation practice, she defends employers against individual and class actions in the state and federal courts, and in proceedings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New Mexico Human Rights Division, the New Mexico Department of Labor and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. Ms. Parrish advises employers about issues of employee discipline and discharge, and about preparation and revision of personnel policies. She also counsels employers regarding compliance with state and federal equal opportunity laws, including Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and the New Mexico Human Rights Act. She is a New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization-recognized specialist in employment and labor law. She has made numerous presentations at employment law seminars in New Mexico.

Gene Vance is a lawyer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Since graduating with highest honors from the Baylor University School of Law, he has practiced commercial law with an emphasis in employment law. Mr. Vance is a member of the State Bar of New Mexico (board of directors Labor and Employment Section, Commercial Litigation and Antitrust Section) and the State Bar of Texas (Labor and Employment Section). He has presented seminars on employment law to business and professional groups in New Mexico since 1984. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Vance served as a law clerk to the Supreme Court of Texas.

Charles J. Vigil is a shareholder and director in the Albuquerque office of Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin & Robb, P.A. He is currently serving as president of the State Bar of New Mexico and is a two-term member of the Board of Bar Commissioners. At Rodey, he practices in the Litigation Department in the areas of labor and employment law, products liability, drug and medical device liability, commercial litigation and professional liability. Mr. Vigil defends New Mexico and out-of-state employers in employment and civil rights actions in both state and federal court. He has jury and non-jury trial experience in both the state and federal courts, including the trials of breach of contract, Family and Medical Leave Act, Title VII and legal malpractice cases. Mr. Vigil has presented oral argument in the New Mexico Supreme Court and 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Vigil also advises and consults with personnel managers regarding issues of discipline, discharge, compliance with state and federal employment laws, and the preparation and revision of personnel handbooks. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and the University of New Mexico. Mr. Vigil is a member of the Labor Law Section of the American Bar Association.
