This "Internal Controls" seminar will cover valuable information on basic control and audit concepts.

(PRWEB) September 16, 2005 -- This seminar will provide valuable information on basic control and audit concepts. The program will train financial professionals and management personnel who need to understand audit concepts about how to develop and implement an effective internal control structure. Seminar attendees will gain insight into the following issues and will learn how to develop and implement effective internal controls.

George F. Fallon, CPA, CDP, CISA, a partner in Clifton Gunderson LLPs Washington, D.C. office, concentrates on information systems auditing and consulting. During his career of more than 22 years, Mr. Fallon has developed expertise in audit, information systems security, data processing applications and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. He has performed countless internal control reviews of systems, and he has reviewed numerous computer applications for financial institutions, federal agencies and privately-held companies. He is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, the Association of Federal Information Resources Management, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Fallon earned two bachelors degrees from Loyola College in Maryland.

Thomas G. Heseltine, CPA, is a partner in Clifton Gunderson LLPs Baltimore office. Mr. Heseltine has more than 10 years of significant audit experience in several industries, including construction; manufacturing and distribution; nonprofit; and state, local and federal government. He focuses on reviewing organizations internal control environments and analyzing operational procedures, and he also has experience developing accounting policies and procedures manuals. Mr. Heseltine is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. He earned his bachelors degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

J. Michael Stephens, CPA, CFE, CGFM, is a partner in Clifton Gunderson LLPs Baltimore office. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Stephens is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Government Financial Manager, and he has more than 19 years of audit and accounting experience. He works closely with business owners to establish effective internal controls designed to help prevent fraud. He also conducts fraud investigations and calculates fraud damages for businesses in which fraud has occurred. Mr. Stephens is a frequent speaker on fraud-related topics and has published articles on these topics in numerous trade and business journals. He is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountantsand the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Stephens earned his bachelors degree from Loyola College in Maryland.
