Jenslist.com Local Search and Consumer Referral Service Launches
Social networking site generates positive and negative reports on local businesses.
Roseville, CA (PRWEB) September 15, 2005 -- Jenslist.com, an online resource and social networking site that informs consumers throughout the Sacramento Capital Region looking for high quality and trustworthy companies to hire announced its official launch today. The site opened in June for testing and feedback, and its membership base has steadily grown by 100 percent, month-over-month, since opening in June for testing.
Jenslist.com was developed and is run by Roseville husband and wife team Dave and Jennifer DeMink. Dave works locally for a technology company and Jennifer is a schoolteacher who recently spent an entire summer break to work with the builder of their new home on a large number of issues that were a direct result of poor contractor work performance. During the same time a family friend had a landscape contractor unexpectedly walk off the job, subsequently placing a lien on their property, only to find out that this landscape contractor has a history of not finishing other jobs.
"Local consumers can look in the yellow pages or online for a company to hire, but that does not always tell you the whole story," Dave DeMink, founder of Jenslist.com said. "Instead, they can use Jenslist.com and read the feedback left by others on how a company performed, what they were hired to do, and if they delivered satisfactory work. Word of mouth, or the consumer referral, is still the most powerful means of advertising."
The California Department of Consumer Affairs licenses approximately 278,000 contractors in California and investigates more than 20,000 complaints against licensed and unlicensed contractors annually. It is estimated that California loses between $60 billion and $140 billion a year in revenue due to this underground economy.
Only our members can list local businesses on Jenslist.com. Businesses do not pay to be on the site. Upon registering on the site, consumers will be able to search for local companies that perform high-quality work and also be warned of those that do not. Consumers can read feedback left by other members on a particular company, and provide recommendations about a company so that other members of the community will be able to make well-informed decisions. The site collects data on service providers in over 250 different categories.
