The 2006 Backspace Writers Conference brings together best-selling authors, top agents, and editors for two full days of panel discussions and socializing in the heart of the publishing world. Serious writers in all genres are invited to come meet the people who can make a difference in their writing career.
(PRWEB) September 17, 2005 -- Backspace, a large Internet-based writers organization comprised of 398 members in a dozen countries, is sponsoring their second non-Internet event, the 2006 Backspace Writers Conference to be held on July 21 & 22, 2006 at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City.
Sara Nelson, Editor-in-Chief of Publishers Weekly, and Richard Curtis, literary agent and long-time author advocate are the keynote speakers.
Panelists include best-selling authors Lee Child, Gayle Lynds, Kay Hooper, Ron McLarty, and Barry Eisler; eleven literary agents including Kristin Nelson, Jeff Kleinman, Miriam Goderich, Dan Lazar, and Jenny Bent; C. Michael Curtis, fiction editor of The Atlantic Monthly, as well as acquisitions editors from four major publishing houses (Random House, Shaye Areheart, Penguin Putnam, Crown). Many other publishing professionals round out the two-day, two-track program of panel discussions, workshops, and pitch sessions. An hour-long mixer at the end of each day affords plenty of free time for mingling and networking.
Details regarding the program and registration can be found at the conference website: www.backspacewritersconference.com Questions should be addressed to Backspace administrators Christopher Graham or Karen Dionne.
Backspace is predicated on the idea of writers helping writers, which they accomplish by means of discussion forums, a guest speaker program in which agents, acquisitions editors, and best-selling authors regularly conduct online question and answer sessions with the group, and advice and how-to articles from publishing experts on their homepages. Backspace has attracted the participation and/or support of publishing professionals such as Richard Curtis, Dan Lazar, Jenny Bent, Jeff Kleinman, Lee Child, Jeffery Deaver, David Morrell, Neil Gaiman, Jennifer Weiner, Barry Eisler, Robert Crais, Chris Bohjalian, Stephen Elliot, and many more.
