Lorman Education Services Presents Discipline Of Students With Special Needs Seminar on November 2

This "Discipline Of Students With Special Needs" seminar will focus on relevant case law and legal advice in the area of student discipline, and roles of school professionals and discipline techniques.

(PRWEB) September 17, 2005 -- Learners with special needs can present unique discipline challenges for school professionals. The educational success of these students depends on school professionals' knowledge and skill in specially designed policies, procedures and strategies. Similarly, school personnel must be aware of the most current laws and regulations in order to protect themselves and their school district from liability, and offer students the most effective education possible. This program will take a look at not only relevant case law and legal advice in the area of student discipline, but also roles of school professionals and discipline techniques.

Steve Breakstone, co-founder of Balance Educational Services, LLC in Manchester, Vermont is an expert in violence prevention, behavior management and effective communication styles.

He is knowledgeable in special education law and the No Child Left Behind Act, offering easy to understand seminars to teachers, administrators and attorneys. Mr. Breakstone is the former Director of Northstar Community Alliance in Bennington, Vermont, where he worked with school systems and area organizations to prevent and reduce substance abuse.

He is a presenter for Lorman Education Services and Father Time in Arlington, Vermont, where he leads the fathering program, combining adult/ child recreation and the teaching of practical fathering skills. Mr. Breakstones former positions include Youth Educator with Project Against Violent Encounters in Bennington, Vermont, and Residential Training Counselor with Lauridsen Group Home in Port Angeles, Washington. Mr. Breakstones B.F.A. degree is from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. He is a trained mediator and the author of Washington WALKABOUT, a nationally distributed book which examines the experiences of a man with developmental disabilities as he and Mr. Breakstone walked 1,300 miles around the state of Washington promoting the capabilities of people with disabilities.

Michael Dreiblatt, co-founder of Balance Educational Services, LLC in Manchester, Vermont is an acclaimed national speaker who concentrates on violence prevention, social aggression/bully proofing, healthy relationships and discipline of children with special needs. He is an expert in Section 504, IDEA and the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Mr. Dreiblatt, a veteran 16-year public school teacher, is the former Network Coordinator of the Vermont School Age Care Network, where he advocated for improved after-school programs. He is the former Director of Education for Israel Congregation of Manchester and is currently a presenter with Father Time fathering program in Arlington, Vermont. Mr. Dreiblatt is an experienced grant writer, trained mediator and consultant for the state of Vermont. Mr. Dreiblatt earned his B.A. degree from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, where he was a Bovenaan Award recipient and the Director of Hofstra Student Outreach, a short-term student crisis intervention center.

This one-day seminar is designed for special education teachers and directors, principals, teachers, school social workers, psychologists, guidance counselors, case managers, superintendents and attorneys.
