Los Rabanes Receives Latin Grammy Nomination for 'Ecolecua'

"Best Alternative Album" Nod Marks the Band's Third Nomination to Date.

(PRWEB) September 17, 2005 -- In a press conference held by the Latin Academy of Recording Artists last month, Panamanian rock group RABANES was announced as a nominee for Best Alternative Album in the Sixth Annual Latin Grammy Awards for their album Ecolecuá" (Sony Records).

Ecolecuá", the bands fifth album, is a musical explosion that fuses rock, reggaeton, rap, and Caribbean rhythms into the exciting representation of what the modern international sound should be. It also represents the third Latin Grammy Nomination RABANES has received since previous efforts Rabanes" and Superstar" were recognized by the committee.

Through Ecolecuá", the band, comprised of Emilio Regueria, Christian Torres and Javier Saavedra, wanted to capture the energy of their live shows. They threw in heavy guitar riffs, basic percussion, and mixed it with hip-hop and reggaeton samplers. The album tackles serious issues such as social concern and heartache, but also keeps it fun with the party anthems and patriotic themes that go hand-in-hand with the bands festive lifestyle.

The album features collaborations with reggaeton artist Don Omar, world-famous accordionist and fellow compatriot Osvaldo Ayala, as well as vocal styling from Vicentico of Fabulosos Cadillacs fame. With legendary producer Emilio Estefan Jr. channeling the bands unique sound and rowdy personality onto record, Ecolecuá" promises to be an album that will open the doors to different markets and a variety of audiences. The Ecolecuá" release date of August 31, 2004 also marked the groups tenth anniversary as a band.

In addition to recently wrapping up production on a video for their single La Pastilla Del Amor", the band is in the process of booking a worldwide tour scheduled to hit four continents through 2006.

The Latin Grammy Awards will be held November 3rd at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and televised live at 8 p.m. (Pacific) on The Univision Network.
