Florida Author Offers Portion of Royalties for Katrina Victims
Sci-Fi Fantasy author JC De La Torre is donating a portion of his royalites from his new novel, Ancient Rising, for victims of Hurrican Katrina.
Tampa, Fl. (PRWEB) September 18, 2005 -- Florida author JC De La Torre is offering a portion of his royalties from his new novel Ancient Rising to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which ravaged the Gulf Coast last month. The book, currently only available through his website at http://www.delatorrewriting.com/ancientrising.html , will be available through Amazon, Barnes & Nobles and all other usual bookstores on October 1st.
For every book sold between now and the end of the hurricane season (Nov. 30), $1 will go to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina recover from the catastrophic event.
"I was so touched by the events in Mississippi and Louisiana," De La Torre said, "The images of loved ones searching for their lost family members. The bodies and death all around them. Homes and lives destroyed. It was horrific. I just wanted to do something to help them. Were all brothers and sisters here on the Gulf Coast, we all have a target on our chests. It could have easily hit my home in Tampa or anywhere else in the Gulf. I know those people would do whatever they could to help us if it came down to it.
In times like these its the duty of every American to help their fellow brothers and sisters get back on their feet. I urge, at the very least, all other Gulf Coast authors and publishers to step forward and do the same or if they can even more. Were in this together."
De La Torres novel, Ancient Rising, has received critical acclaim as "A well-written, fast moving adventure that fits into the Clive Cussler/Dan Brown mode" and early demand was high enough to prompt the publisher, Luna Brillante Publishing, to offer a limited early release through the authors website and his printing partner, Lulu.com. The book, the first of a trilogy, fits snugly in the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre. It follows the adventures of a widower who is approached by a strange character claiming to be the Greek God Hermes and told that he the key to finding the lost continent of Atlantis and releasing the Gods from an ancient curse.
De La Torre hopes the success of the book translates into help for the victims,
"From the early response, this book is going to be a success when it hits wide release. Im just glad that through it, Ill be able to help them more than I ever could out of my own pocket."
