Prior to Katrina, on May 9th a new poll released by Mason-Dixon shows that most people on the East Coast and Gulf Coast were not planning to take any actions.
It means they did not have a personal before or an ÂAfter Disaster Rebuilding Plan to protect themselves or their property from hurricanes this year. http://hurricanesafety.org/mediakit/masonDixon_poll.pdf
According to Severe Weather Meteorologist and Professional Organizer, Brian Hill, "ItÂs too hard to find information about how to create a Personal After Disaster Rebuilding Plan.Â
That lack of a 'Personal After Disaster Plan' will work against the presidentÂs plans of getting help to people quickly. As we have seen in New Orleans, government can not be counted on to do everything.Â
In the survey 1 in 4 residents said they would do nothing at all to prepare for the storm, over half didnÂt feel vulnerable at all to hurricanes. What can you do to be prepared and have better peace of mind?
Even if you havenÂt got a plan now, there are some critical questions you must answer to get back to normal quickly after a disaster:
1. How do you develop a plan to track all your receipts.
2. How do you develop an overall plan for rebuilding your life.?
3. What do you do when cash is gone and how to get access to money you have in the banks? How do you budget for short term needs?
4. How do you communicate with relatives, find family members, and organize critical information even when everything else seems lost?
Answers are available in ÂFree Disaster Recovery Tips to help create a personal After Disaster Rebuilding Plan.
