The Baby Isis collection, named after Ng-Gotlib's 2½-year-old daughter Isis Jade, in turn named after the Egyptian goddess of love, offers 17 different fabrics with colors derived from Chinese culture. These range from Aquamarine Baby Cords (for inspiration and self- expression) to Baby Moo (patterned after the Ox for stability). Some years after she moved to New York City in 1980, Aimee Ng-Gotlib became an actress. Having a child brought her back to her ethnic heritage, which included a grandfather who dreamed of selling Asian apparel to the west. With Baby Isis, now that dream is reality," she says.
Baby Isis, believed to be the first line of children's clothing inspired by Feng Shui, is manufactured in the USA. Prices range from $35 to $48, and sizes fit children from 3 months to 4 years old.
