Cell Journalist, a groundbreaking new subscription service, taps camera phone users from all over the world to give media outlets access to a vast array of news-related images.

"When breaking news happens, it is much more likely today that the first images will be captured by passers-by with camera phones rather than by professional photographers," says Parker Polidor, President of Cell Journalist. "Cell Journalist aggregates images by camera phone users all over the world to give media services accurate and high-quality photographs."

Polidor cites the recent London bombings as one of the first times where camera phone images were used extensively during coverage of a major news event. He also quotes Neal Shapiro, President of NBC News, who said that the use of camera phone images "has an immediacy and a vitality that is undeniable. This is a glimpse into the future." By 2007, Jupiter Research predicts that there will be 600 million camera phone users throughout the world. That represents a vast army of photographers always carrying cameras with them.

Cell Journalist (available at http://www.celljournalist.com) takes care to screen all submitted images and verify them for authenticity and quality. When making submissions, users must fully disclose all information about the image and also agree to not put themselves in danger while taking these photographs.

"These camera phones have transformed ordinary citizens into celljournalists," says Polidor. "The images from Cell Journalist will be able to provide depth, detail and color to a news story that may otherwise remain just black and white."
