Joe Vitale and his staff canvassed colleagues in the online marketing community and created Operation Super Hero, a site dedicated to raising money for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. A range of marketers, specialized in topics running the gamut from health advice to lead generation, have donated bonuses, amounting to a formidable and valuable knowledge base. "Too many people are setting up ways to raise money that are questionable," said Joe Vitale, online marketer and author of "The Attractor Factor" and one of the key people behind Operation Super Hero.
Vitale struggled with a way to help hurricane victims. While some sites collect money to give to charity and some sites collect e-mail addresses, Vitale and other members of the net community feel both practices are suspicious.
"We have created a simple and honest way for contributors to help the victims by donating directly to one of three causes we have researched," Vitale said. He credits Suzanne Burns, one of his assistants, for spending three days researching and choosing charities to participate in Operation Super Hero.
Burns narrowed a considerable field of charities into three: World Vision Foundation, Save the Children and the Humane Society. Numerous online marketers contributed to the campaign. Donors will receive advice on a variety of practical topics, from writing a sales letter and understanding viral marketing to finding balance as a mom or finding a perfect mate.
