Chicago, Midwest Pagans Sending Aid to Katrina Victims

Chicago Pagans are hoping to send trucks of aid to Katrina Victims and are collecting Wednesday Night at Excalibur Nightclub. Avalon Cares! has already delivered one convoy of supplies to Katrina victims over the weekend of Sept. 9 and 10 and is sending a second this coming weekend.

(PRWEB) September 20, 2005 -- Pagans and Wiccans are working together to send aid under Avalon Cares!, a new Aid organization formed last year after the tsunami and now providing assistance to Katrina victims. Paganism and Wicca are growing faiths in America that are often ridiculed and discounted, but, quietly, Pagans have been making a difference for years. Now in the wake of Katrina, they are helping in a bigger way than anyone ever expected.

Avalon Cares! has already delivered one convoy of supplies to Katrina Victims over the weekend of Sept. 9 and 10. This was a historical moment -- the beginning of Pagans and Wiccans providing more than personal assistance to those in need. More help is being sent from Avalon Cares! Chicago Pagans are collecting materials needed to send this weekend to Mississippi and meet up with trucks from Pagans of Florida and Southeastern United States.

Chicago Pagans and Wiccans are also hosting a fundraiser, Mardi Gras in Chicago, with all proceeds going to Avalon Cares at Excalibur Night Club, 632 N. Dearborn St. Chicago, IL. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 8 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $20. All proceeds will be to provide assistance to those affect by Katrina. Entertainment is being donated by Dalet-Yod, IV Four, URN, The Dusk Lovers and Ghost Stories with Diane Ladley.

The final pickup point in Chicago will be the Avalon Cares Fundraiser at Excalibur Night Club. Other pickups will take place in Hoopeston Illinois, and other points throughout the Midwest. This coincides with Mabon and Fall Equinox, a blessed day for the Pagan community. In this case, they are hoping to make it a little brighter for those still in need.
