The 2005 Scariest Website Contest lets you nominate an out of date website to receive a free makeover worth up to $2,000. The contest runs October 3-28, and the winner will be announced on Halloween.
The Scariest Website contest is sponsored by FastWebUpdates.com, a website maintenance company serving small businesses throughout the country. The object is to find the Âscarily out of date website which could benefit most from a free design and content update. The contest is open to any U.S. organization.
ÂMany small organizations--from businesses to non-profits--aren't doing as well as they could on the Internet, said Reid Carlberg, founder of FastWebUpdates.com. ÂTheir websites aren't well thought out, they don't contain the information people really need and they aren't promoted. This is a chance for someone to have experienced professionals rework their site at no charge, and to get some free publicity at the same time.Â
The website redesign will focus on several areas. First is contentÂwhat the website says. ÂOn the Internet, content is still king. If your website doesn't have what people want, they'll simply leave, Carlberg notes. Next will be design and construction. ÂThese determine the ongoing costs of operating the site, he continued. On page search engine optimization (SEO) will be integrated with each phase.
The contest is open to any organization with its own domain name. The website can be nominated by anyone, and the winner will be picked based on the nature of the website and the persuasiveness of the nomination. Full eligibility details are available at the ScariestWebsite.com.
The winner and their website will be included in post contest publicity, and select nominations will be added to the website. In addition to the grand prize, one runner up will win a three hour New Customer Special website maintenance package worth $99.
Nominations can be submitted beginning 10/3 at ScariestWebsite.com (http://www.scariestwebsite.com).
