This "Recognizing Blind Spots In The World Of LLCs" seminar will focus on the most recent of developments impacting these entity choices.

(PRWEB) September 30, 2005 -- A one-day seminar designed for attorneys, legal staff, accountants, enrolled agents, estate and financial planners, real estate professionals, lenders, and others who advise clients about various pass-through entities like the LLC and want to be able to recognize often overlooked, but important issues impacting these entities. This course will focus on the most recent of developments impacting these entity choices.

Jeffrey B. Fugal is an attorney with the law firm of Quarles & Brady Streich Lang LLP in Phoenix, Arizona. His practice focuses on corporate, limited liability company and partnership law, and transactional tax planning for businesses in connection with business formations, restructurings, recapitalizations, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate ventures. Mr. Fugal is a past lecturer on various limited liability company and federal income tax topics. He is a certified tax specialist and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. Mr. Fugal received his B.A. degree from Brigham Young University, his J.D. degree from Indiana University and his LL.M. degree in taxation from the University of Denver. He is a member of the Arizona Bar Association. Mr. Fugal is also a member of the State Bar of Arizonas Executive Tax Council.

Eliot L. Kaplan is a partner with the firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey LLP, where his practice is focused on international, federal, state and local tax issues; real estate transactions; mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate matters. He frequently provides advice concerning partnerships, limited liability companies and joint ventures, entity formation and dissolution, and business reorganizations and restructurings. Further, Mr. Kaplan advises on complex nonprofit organizations, international business transactions and tax controversies. As a former attorney-adviser in the national office of the Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Kaplan gained experience in drafting regulations, revenue rulings and revenue procedures, as well as navigating the private letter ruling process and other types of administrative practice. His continued national involvement includes recently serving as a member of the IRS Advisory Council, which advises the IRS commissioner and other IRS officials on tax policy and administration issues. He earned his B.S. degree from the University of Arizona, his J.D. degree from Arizona State University and his LL.M. degree in taxation, with distinction, from Georgetown University. Mr. Kaplan lectures widely on tax issues before audiences such as the New York University Institute, the California CPA Society and others. He served as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law, where he taught courses on the taxation of business organizations and partnerships.

Bahar A. Schippel is a partner with Snell & Wilmer L.L.P. Her practice is in general federal tax with emphasis in corporate, partnership and LLC tax planning, and in representing taxpayers in federal audits and controversies before the Internal Revenue Service and in Tax Court litigation. Other practice areas include tax-exempt entity formation and planning, including advice regarding qualification, joint-venturing, intermediate sanctions, excess benefits and unrelated business income tax issues; state and local tax planning and litigation; and business formation. Ms. Schippel earned her B.S. (magna cum laude) and her J.D. (cum laude) degrees from Arizona State University, and her LL.M. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law. She is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Arizona, the United States Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Schippel is a member of the State Bar of Arizona (Tax Law Executive Council), the American Bar Association (Tax Section and the Subcommittee on Court Procedure and Practice) and is a state certified tax consultant. She regularly presents on a wide variety of tax-related topics before various professional groups and organizations including the Tax Executives Institute, Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Tax Section of the Arizona State Bar.
