Applied Global Technologies Takes Video Conferencing Universal with the Release of VIDEO PRESENTER Version 3.0
First H.239 Transcoding feature combined with unique Web-to-VTC presentation capabilities headline advancements in this On Demand Conferencing Service.
Boston, MA (PRWEB) September 22, 2005 -- Applied Global Technologies, proven experts in IP collaboration technologies and solutions, announces the release of VIDEO PRESENTER v 3.0 today at the VON Conference in Boston. The new release makes quality video conferencing more accessible to the average user, allowing individuals to present video and content from the Web to video conferencing devices. Version 3.0 also bridges H.239 and non-H.239 technologies so that all meeting participants see and experience the same video and content simultaneously, allowing for more effective communication.
"Video conferencing has been plagued by complexity and has become a burden on the end users," stated Mike Valletutti, Chairman and CEO, Applied Global Technologies. Our latest release is another step towards complete and transparent automation of the video conferencing support model. Everything about a video conference -- access to presentations, recording and streaming, multipoint bridging -- is instantly and now universally, available."
Available as part of AGTs innovative On Demand Conferencing Solution and initially launched in January 2005, VIDEO PRESENTER is the first service that provides a universal two-step process for connecting to a live presentation using new videoconferencing systems, legacy systems, and PCs: Step 1) enter IP, ISDN or URL address, and Step 2) enter meeting PIN. For the first time, collaboration users may present or attend meetings with minimal training, barriers or support requirements.
The latest 3.0 advancements are significant:
H.239 Transcoding: For the first time, a bridge is available for H.239 and non-H.239 technologies -- allowing meeting participants to see both video and presentation content simultaneously, regardless of whether they are viewing or presenting from an H.239 device or a non-H.239 device. Since H.239 (a technology that allows users to connect a PC directly to a video conferencing system in order to show content) was not first available until 2003, a majority of video conferencing appliances in use today are non-H.239. With the latest upgrade to VIDEO PRESENTER, both H.239 and non-H.239 devices are guaranteed to experience the same visual content in each meeting (H.239 uses two monitors and sees content in one monitor and active speaker in second monitor while non-H.239 uses a single monitor upon which to views presentations with a PIP (Picture-in-Picture) of the active speaker appearing on the main screen. The most popular non-H.239 device in the marketplace today is the Polycom Viewstation.
Web-to-VTC Presentation Capabilities: For the first time in the marketplace, PC users connecting to the Web may now present content (Power Point presentations, for example) from their own stand alone PC to meeting participants connected to video conferencing only appliances. Earlier releases of VIDEO PRESENTER provided streaming of video meetings to PCs via the web. However, the new feature announced today allows PC-only users to not only view, but now present/share/show content from their PC so that those viewing a meeting on a video conferencing device can see the content. This makes remote presentation (anyone traveling or with no access to a traditional video conferencing device) to host and lead meetings with full capabilities.
This fills a significant technology gap that has existed in video conferencing meetings," stated Todd Jacobson, Vice President of Product Development, Applied Global Technologies. AGT was able to bridge this gap by incorporating its Dual Stream MUX (DSM) technology into VIDEO PRESENTER. Now all video parties are able to receive video and content simultaneously from both H.239 and non-H.239 presenter alike."
