Lorman Education Services Presents "Document Retention And Destruction" Seminar November 8, 2005.
This "Document Retention And Destruction" seminar will not only provide organizations with guidelines on how to establish a records management program, it will provide those guidelines for electronic and other formats.
(PRWEB) September 23, 2005 -- Events in recent history have highlighted the importance of having a records management policy for the retention and destruction of documents generated or collected during all business activities. The destruction of client or internal documents on a random, case-by-case basis can create litigation challenges when documents are not destroyed by following properly planned records retention practices. Well-managed organizations want to be able to respond professionally to customer, client, auditor and legal needs for records. Should a document become destined inappropriately for the shredder, but instead find its way into unfriendly hands, it can be very embarrassing and potentially costly. Further, agencies generate records in multiple formats. This seminar will not only provide organizations with guidelines on how to establish a records management program, it will provide those guidelines for electronic and other formats.
Mark Myers is the electronic records specialist with the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. He provides records management advice and assistance to both state agencies and local officials in the management of their electronic records. As part of the Electronic Records Working Group, an interagency body consisting of state records management personnel, IT personnel, state auditors and legal personnel, Mr. Myers helps develop policy recommendations or alternatives for issues involving the intersection of technology and records management. He is a member of ARMA International and serves on the Steering Committee of the Electronic Records Section of the Society of American Archivists. Mr. Myers has a bachelors degree in secondary education from the University of Kentucky and lives in Montgomery County.
