This "Fundamentals Of Real Estate Closings" seminar will review current laws, the usual forms and customary procedures that take place after the contracts are signed but before the deal is closed.

What should be a happy event for all involved can turn into a very unpleasant experience if everyone is not prepared. This course will review current laws, the usual forms and customary procedures that take place after the contracts are signed but before the deal is closed.

Gilbert M. Hoffman is a vice president and district counsel for Ticor Title Insurance Company in Syracuse, New York. He began working as a title examiner for a law firm in 1978 and was in private practice until 1985, when he joined Ticor Title Guarantee Company. Mr. Hoffman attended the University of Maryland and Syracuse University, and received his J.D. degree from the Syracuse University College of Law. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, its Real Property Section, its Title and Transfer Committee, and that committees Sub-Committee on Revised New York State Bar Association Recommended Practices and Standards of Title, and he is a former member of the Task Force on Residential Disclosure Legislation. Mr. Hoffman is also a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association, the chairman of its Real Property Section and a member of its Residential Contract Committee. He is also an associate member of the New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors. Mr. Hoffman is a frequent lecturer at CLE programs on title insurance, title examination, transfer of title, surveys and resolution of title problems.

Vaughn D. Lang has been self-employed with the Lang Law Offices in Fayetteville, New York, since 1975. His practice is limited to residential and commercial real estate transactions. Mr. Lang received his B.A., B.Ch.E. and J.D. degrees from Syracuse University. He is admitted to the New York Bar and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. Currently, Mr. Lang is a senior instructor for the Greater Syracuse Board of Realtors, teaching licensing courses to salespersons and brokers. He is also a guest lecturer at seminars sponsored by Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors.

Rocco J. Mangano is a partner with Mangano, Lucchesi and Collins in Syracuse. During his 20-year career, he has concentrated his practice areas in real estate, commercial law and litigation. Mr. Mangano received his B.A. degree in history and political science from the University of Rochester and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the Syracuse University College of Law. He is a vice chair for the Onondaga County Bar Association Real Property Committee and Contract Revision Subcommittee.

Richard H. Sargent has extensive experience in the areas of both residential and commercial real estate. He has been practicing law in upstate New York for more than 30 years and, throughout that time, has concentrated his practice on all facets of residential and commercial real estate, including property litigation, negotiating, drafting, reviewing and approval of contracts, representation at closings, and zoning and environmental matters.

Mr. Sargent was admitted to the New York Bar, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York. His professional affiliations include the Onondaga County, New York State and American Bar Associations.

This one-day seminar is designed for attorneys, paralegals, loan officers, presidents, vice presidents, owners, closing specialists, real estate agents and brokers, business managers and office managers.
