San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 26, 2005
On Saturday, Oct. 1, it's a night of ÂOld Hollywood Glamour as Tinsel Town moves north for the fifth annual Monterey Bay Gala to benefit the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation ( http://www.makewish.org). Clint and Dina Eastwood's Tehama Golf and Country Club (2500 Via Malpaso, Monterey) will play host to this popular annual charity event, which raises funds to fulfill magical wishes for young people facing life-threatening illnesses. The ÂOld Hollywood Glamour event runs from 5pm 'til midnight and features a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, a gourmet dinner, and hours of dancing with the Bill Hopkins Orchestra.
ÂWe are so excited that this wonderful event once again is close to selling out, said Patricia Wilson, executive director of the Foundation. ÂThe great success of this every year can be credited to our amazing event co-chairs and our major sponsors. From start to finish, this event is the product of a tireless labor of love by Dina Eastwood, Jamel Ehnisz, Ksenija Halamandaris, Cynthia House and Valentia Piccinini. And the show could not go on without the returning Presenting sponsorship of Warner Bros. Studio and our other top sponsor, Synchrofit  Valentia Piccinini.Â
This yearÂs Monterey Bay Gala takes place at the Tehama Golf and Country Club, a private club owned by Clint and Dina Eastwood. Guests at the Gala will enjoy a gourmet dinner at the exclusive venue, which sits above the Carmel Valley and Monterey Bay. The dinner will feature the ClubÂs award winning chefs. Dina Eastwood will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies for this black tie event. Auction items this year include memorabilia from Million Dollar Baby and a Napa Valley Lamborghini Masarati Wine Tasting Tour for Six.
About the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation:
In 2005, the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation® celebrates over 21 years of fulfilling magical wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses. One of the largest chapters nationwide, it has granted more than 3,800 wishes in its 17 Northern California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Marin, Monterey, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Siskiyou, Solano and Sonoma. In August 2005, the Chapter was recognized with a coveted ÂBest in America Seal of Excellence award, the first Make-A-Wish Chapter to achieve this distinction for its outstanding management and governance practices. Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, or 5 percent, meet or exceed these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal.
