Hundreds of Executives Rally to Help Others

Cost savings ideas shared online by corporate executives from around the globe form basis for new book.

Management consultant Patricia E. Moody was searching for ways her clients could save significantly on company expenses when an idea came to her that had not been tried before––a blog for executives to share ways they had found to save. She set one up, and the outpouring of help was overwhelming.

Moody said, “Who says people in business aren’t willing to help each other unless there’s some payback in it for them? Hundreds of ideas poured in––way beyond my wildest expectations. And the ingenuity of many was truly mind boggling.”

Moody, whose clients include Waste Management and BP (formerly British Petroleum), decided to write a book about her experience and contacted many of the bloggers to obtain their permission to use the material they had posted online. The result is a new release now available on Amazon.com called “The Big Squeeze: Ten Ways to Cut 10% of Your Company’s Expenses Right Now!” The first half contains a novella about a rising young executive who sets up a blog for executives to share savings ideas. The second half is a distillation of actual blog material, which was offered by managers from such well known businesses as Hilton Hotels, Motorola, Dell Computers, and Ford Motor Company. All or part of about fifty separate blog entries are included, offering ways their authors have found to save on everything from health insurance and telecommunications to transportation, logistics, and parts procurement.

Bill L. Knittle, Global Procurement Director of BP said, “The book provides great, innovative solutions of which at least 3-4 would be helpful in solving almost any procurement issue facing a company today. This is a terrific read for people looking for proven ways to lower the third party spend in an organization.”

“The Big Squeeze” has been issued in hardcover, retails for $23.95, and can also be purchased at the publisher’s website, http://www.LeanTransformation.com. The International Standard Book Number is 1-892538-45-8.

The book’s publisher, The Oaklea Press, was founded in 1995 and offers such widely-read business books as “Lean Enterprise: How to Change Your Business into a Lean Enterprise” and “Product Development for the Lean Enterprise.”
