Orbit Baby Announces Official Sponsorship of WalkSmart

Annual event raises funds for Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Newark, CA (PRWEB) September 29, 2005 -- Orbit Baby Inc., has announced it will act as an official sponsor at this weekends WalkSmart event.
The event, which will be held in Fremont on Saturday October 1st, will raise funds for Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy Northern California.

SMA Nor Cal funds research to find a cure for SMA, and provides support to families coping with the disease.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a motor neuron disease. The motor neurons affect the voluntary muscles that are used for activities such as crawling, walking, head and neck control, and swallowing. Those suffering from a variation of SMA are most often diagnosed as infants, however adult onset SMA does occur, generally after the age of 35.

Orbit Baby will serve as a Silver Sponsor at Walk Smart, and founding partners of the company will participate in the walk itself.

Ive been involved with Walk Smart and have helped raise money for SMA for 3 years now," says Farrah White of Orbit Baby. Its very personal to our family, as this walk was started by our friend Linda Fernandez whose daughter Jessica was diagnosed at 4 months old. While her diagnosis was dire, against all odds she is a happy 3 year-old. Its my hope that through research and the continued development of strategic treatments, Jessica and children like her will continue to thrive."

Walk Smart is a 2 mile walk held on a paved path that is ideal for strollers, wheelchairs, and pedestrians. In addition to the walk, awards, prizes, and goodies will be offered. Corporate and community teams, as well as individual participants will attend. Preliminary estimates indicate an attendance of 800 -- 1,000 walkers.
