Fast-growing US-based site Xposed.com has vaulted into second place online for men's lifestyle sites, re-branding this week as Savvy.com and announcing a number of new initiatives.
Savvy.com's managing director Jonathan Gravenor said the re-branding is integral to the site's rapid growth and business objectives. "We've had a fantastic run growing Xposed.com from a standing start to becoming the world's second most visited male lifestyle site.
"As Xposed.com grew it also evolved - we like to coin ourselves 'Yahoo for Men', an online place providing everything for men. It also became clear that the Xposed name really didn't reflect what we are and who our audience is.
ÂThe Savvy name is a fit with our readers, who are savvy in their attitudes, sophisticated too in their online habits and the quality content they expect. Gravenor said Savvy by dictionary definition is about confidence, practical know-how, savoir-faire; being shrewd, well- informed and in the know; qualities that apply to both the site and its regular repeat visitors.
Savvy.com's hard work is paying off not just in traffic volumes and a strong growth curve, but in delivering high audience retention and repeat loyalty, high page views; and an additional female readership.
"We're strong in the young male demographic, but we've got such a depth of content that we appeal to a wide age range. What's also amazing, and a compliment, is that 29 percent of our audience is female."
Alexa.com (an Amazon company) ranks Xposed.com at #1,821 this week, climbing steadily into Alexa's top 1,000 sites. Hitwise, an industry leader in internet measurement, similarly ranked Xposed.com in its top ten men's lifestyle sites among US Internet users in 2005's April-June second quarter, passing established magazine sites including Maxim, FHM, Stuff and Loaded. In mid-September the site is both number #2 in Hitwise's men's websites category and Alexa's #2 men's lifestyle sites ranking.
Savvy regularly introduces new content and initiatives, this month announcing a co-branded content deal with Roo Media, one of the Internet's largest streaming video providers. Savvy.com visitors now have access to over 6,000 videos, from music videos to the latest news and sports footage; while the site is also producing original streaming video content for readers, including car and gadget reviews and exclusive clips featuring some of America's most expensive and exotic modified cars.
A new partnership with search specialist company Did-it.com is also announced this week and will come on-stream in September, expanding search capabilities and convenience for the Savvy community.
Savvy.com is a division of California-headquartered Tri-Media Corp., a privately held company. Since launching in January 2004 as Xposed magazine, daily unique visits have reached 223,000 in August '05, with page views of more than 48.6 million; and ad impressions of over 194.4 million. Savvy will continue its branded quality photo shoots and up-to-date news, sports and entertainment coverage (updates every 15 minutes 24/7). The site has more than 45,000 articles, introduced a social networking forum earlier this year; and is closing in on 100,000 members.
Original columnists and experts write regular features on women, dating, entertainment, sports, celebrities, fashion, health, relationships, games, gadgets, rides, careers, money, odd stories, humor and continuously updated headlines from around the globe. The site also features tasteful, non-nude pictorials and full length interviews with some of the world's most beautiful and talented young women. Featured models have included Supermodel/Actress Amber Smith, Sideline Correspondent Bonnie-Jill Laflin, calendar bombshell Vida Guerra and Model/Actors Nikki Ziering and Karen McDougal.
