Lakonic, a Chicago-based advertising, design and interactive studio, has launched a new identity and a sister division, The Volume of Silence (http://www.thevolumeofsilence.com), which is a music fanzine and design studio that handles entertainment clients. Lakonic has added staff to support the expansion in design, content and account management.
Along with the rollout, Lakonic also revealed their new tagline, 'Nothing More. Nothing Less.,' a design philosophy inspired by a Saint-Exupery quote: Âperfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away.Â
Owner and creative director, Merrick, believes that their growing client list, staff and partnerships have created a perfect time to launch the new division and will allow for additional offerings that will follow by years end.
ÂLakonic is about to make a very loud statement. We have remained under the radar in the past because, wellÂ we don't talk much,Â joked Merrick about their name which is a synonym for brevity. ÂThis is just the beginning of how we plan to end our silence and step up as a major player. The revisited Lakonic identity and The Volume of Silence will undoubtedly push us to the next level. The Volume of Silence provides a forum for fans and artists to meet and discuss music. Fans can speak up about their passions and for under-appreciated artists that deserve to be heard. Artists can broaden their fan base through magazine exposure, or promotional design services ranging from album cover art and websites, to photography and music videos. (The Volume of Silence webzine is expected to launch October '05.)
