(PRWEB) September 30, 2005 -- Four Central New Jersey art galleries have joined forces to present a weekend-long multi-gallery tour. The tour begins Friday, October 14th and runs through Sunday, October 16th.
"Galleries of Color Tour 2005" includes the following premier New Jersey galleries: Astah's Fine Art Gallery of Maplewood, Just Art of Piscataway, Port Africa of South Plainfield, and Sienna Visions Fine Art & Framing of Plainfield. Each gallery has a unique flavor all its own with its own special mix of artistic expression and ambience.
"Galleries of Color Tour 2005" is not just about good times, good people and great art. We recognize the challenges facing our youth and the ultimate impact on our communities. In planning the Tour, we asked ourselves how could we make a difference and how the Tour could be used to benefit our communities.
The proceeds from this year's Galleries of Color Tour will benefit the Essex/West Hudson New Jersey YWCA. The YWCA is a well-established organization with roots and presence in the parts of our community where it is most needed. Offering a host of affordable services including childcare, swimming lessons, health and fitness programs, day camp, outreach and support programs for teens in crisis, job skills programs, the YWCA contributes to the betterment of our communities every day.
Visitors to Astah's Fine Art Gallery enjoy the music from the baby grand player-piano and mingle in the outdoor sculpture garden as they digest the variety of art from renowned and emerging African American artists. The owners Sheila and Alonzo Cartlidge have provided an elegant environment for the "Home of Phenomenal Art" and have put the pride back into collecting fine art.
Just Art has been providing fine quality art and framing services to clients in the area since 1989. Located on Stelto Road in Piscataway the gallery offers a range of framed original and limited edition works of art, primarily by Black American artists. Owners Tony and Yvonne McTyer have spent 16 years bringing their community more than just art.
Pull up dockside at Port Africa and step into another world. Port Africa specializes in art, furniture and home decor items from artisans in South Africa. Each item is hand picked by owners Mary and Darius Griffin during their annual visits to South Africa. Come once and you will always come back because Port Africa is just a wonderful experience.
Sienna Visions distinguishes itself by being the only gallery on the tour owned by an artist. Nationally acclaimed artist Alonzo Adams and wife Cydnie opened their gallery not only as a showcase for Alonzo's work, but to give a voice to emerging artists that might not otherwise be seen in a gallery setting. Sienna Visions offers a constantly changing buffet where collectors and art enthusiasts will always find something new to see.
