Hartville, OH (PRWEB) September 30, 2005
The International Association of IT Asset Managers announced today that Image Microsystems will be providing a Wi-Fi Hotspot Kiosk for all attendees during the upcoming IAITAM 2005 Annual Conference and Exhibition to be held November 9-11 in Orlando Florida.
The main purpose is a demonstration of IT end-of-life sustainability. All of the hardware that will be used at the conference to set up the Wi-Fi Kiosk was either destined for recycling or refurbishing. The "Hot Spot" will provide all attendees immediate online access to the conference schedule and events as well as their email through the internet. The attendees with their own laptops will also be able to access the internet.
Being able to provide positive alternatives for end-of-life assets creates an economic benefit for IT Asset Managers. Instead of facing a risk and a cost associated with recycling, the asset may potentially have value or at least less or no cost to manage the disposal. These opportunities for sustainability also eliminate all risk because the asset will not face the recycling process or be exposed to state recycling laws.
"The need to think outside of the box and look for new alternative uses for old technology is important," says Alex Abadi, CEO of Image Microsystems.
"Being able to take an old P2 desktop computer that is targeted for recycling or even worst, a landfill may have an extended new life as a 'Hotspot' server is pretty incredible and important to show our members. We are very excited about this partnership with Image Microsystems and look forward to presenting this demonstration during other upcoming events through next year," say Lynne Weiss, VP Sales and Marketing for IAITAM.
The software that will be running the Hotspot is provided by Less Networks, the world leader in FREE Wi-Fi software.
