Keller Williams Miami Real Estate Agent Drives to Louisiana to Help Katrina Victims

Rod Govea, Keller Williams Miami real estate agent, is helping Hurricane Katrina victims by driving to Louisiana from Miami, Florida and donating his time. Govea’s bosses at Keller Williams Miami-Kendall found out about Govea’s selfless donation of time via email.

Govea 2 weeks ago sent an Email to Louis Erice, Broker/Owner of Keller Williams Miami and Vladimir Golik, Broker/Co-Owner of Keller Williams Miami, located in Kendall that said:

Vlad and Louis,

I will be out of town beginning Sunday, September 18th until Monday, the 26th. I will be in Louisiana helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina. I am leaving with a group of 30 from my church. Pray for us.

Govea returned to Miami, Florida, Monday, September 26, 2005, after staying at the Naval base in Gulfport Mississippi for 2 weeks.    

“It is hard to express what I saw and experienced during my visit to Louisiana and Mississippi. Our group ran a distribution center out of a parking lot in a strip mall in Gulfport Mississippi, says Govea. “We were able to help approximately 2,000 families that were victims of Katrina. We handed to needy families, food, toiletries, cleaning items, water, and more. Most importantly, we gave hope. Hope that there is a God who loves them and wants to see them recover. Whether through a prayer or a smile, these people were able to see that someone cared for them. To see their faces shine for at least a moment was priceless and worth the sacrifice of our trip. Their gratitude towards us was humbling."
