Corner Stone Pictures Corporation today announced that Charlie Murphy (Chappelle's Show, Roll Bounce, CB4) has signed to play "Clay the Doorman" and "Arnie" key roles in Corner Stone's upcoming film "Bar Starz," a wacky satire about the characters that make up America's nightclub scene. The films Producer is Charles Picerni with Steve Perry Co-Producing and Kevin McKnight will lens the film.
Director Michael Pietrzak and casting director Jackie Burch cast Murphy along with Charlie Finn (Dukes of Hazzard, Super Troopers) as "Douglas," Derek Waters (Married to the Kellys) who will play "Barry," and Nikki Griffin (Dukes of Hazzard, The OC) will play "Pennie." Also Jana Kramer (Adam Sandler's new comedy Click), Jon Bernthal (Revenge of the Middle Aged Woman), Jayma Mays (Red Eye) and Kier O'Donnell (Wedding Crashers) were cast in the comedy. "I can't believe the cast we got! It's like American Pie, the first one. I'm really excited," said Pietrzak.
Executive Producers are Dale Scales and Reed Clevenger. Corner Stone will begin principle photography on Bar Starz October 24th 2005.
Corner Stone is also producing "Betsy's Kindergarten Adventures," an educational animated TV series aimed at pre-school children. Corner Stone Chairman, Charles Picerni, cites a recent survey of parents by American Business Research Corp that indicates a huge demand by parents for children's educational fare that is non-violent in nature. "Betsy's Kindergarten Adventures was conceived and produced to fit this bill exactly," Picerni notes. The series is currently in production and is expected to premiere sometime in 2006.
