Center for Global Food Issues Launches Milk is Milk Blog

CGFI Director of Research and Education Alex Avery to offer commentary and analysis on issues impacting the Dairy Industry.

Churchville, VA (PRWEB) January 7, 2005 -- The Center for Global Food Issues (CGFI) has launched an Internet Blog as part of its Milk is Milk consumer education Web site http://www.milkismilk.com. CGFI Research and Education Director Alex Avery will provide regular commentary and analysis on issues important to dairy producers and consumers. Averys inaugural post addresses claims and complaints from former journalists-turned-activists Steve Akre and Jane Wilson. The fired Fox journalists are back in the news as they attempt to have the FCC revoke a local Tampa TV stations license after losing a court case in which the couple claimed they were treated unfairly by the station.

Akre and Wilson first gained notoriety in 1997 while working for WTVT Fox 13 in Tampa. The couple assembled a controversial report which included allegations regarding the safety of milk linked to the use of productivity supplements by dairy farmers. Avery explores the side of their story they havent told. For full details and commentary, visit http://www.milkismilk.com/blog.htm.

The Center for Global Food Issues conducts research and analysis of agriculture and the environmental concerns surrounding food and fiber production. The Center uses its worldwide overview of food and farming to assess policies, improve farmers' understanding of the new globalized farm economy, and heighten awareness of the environmental impacts of various farming systems and food policies. The Center for Global Food Issues is a project of the Hudson Institute. For more information, please visit us on the Internet at http://www.cgfi.org.
